hello@playlanterngrove.comCommon questions
How do I play?
Every row, column and coloured area holds exactly one lantern, and lanterns never touch, not even diagonally. Tap to place or remove an X, double-tap to search, and drag to paint X marks. You can replay the tutorial from the home screen, and How to play is in Settings.
What’s the difference between a hint and a tip?
A hint lights a lantern for you. A tip points you towards the next step without giving it away. When you run out, you can watch a short ad for one more, where ads are available.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
You don’t need an account, and you can play without a connection. The weekly leaderboard and ads need one. Points you earn offline stay saved on your phone and are sent when you’re back online, as long as that week’s board is still open.
Can I move my progress to a new phone?
Not at the moment. Progress is saved on your device, and there’s no sign-in to carry it across.
How do I change my name or avatar?
Tap your avatar at the top right of the home screen or a garden, then choose Save profile. Your name and avatar are shown to other players on the weekly leaderboard, so please use a nickname.
Someone’s name on the board bothers me
Hold your finger on their row and choose Hide. They’ll show as “Gardener” on your phone. If a name is offensive, email us too.
How do I change my ad consent?
Go to Settings and choose Privacy choices. This option appears where Google requires a way to change your choice.
Delete your data
Profile names aren't unique and the game doesn't show you your player ID, so a name alone may not identify you. Email us at hello@playlanterngrove.com before you uninstall, with your exact profile name, your avatar and, if you can, your rank and points on this week's leaderboard. If that isn't enough to be sure which record is yours, we'll ask you to change your profile name to a word we send you, so we can find it. We'll then delete your leaderboard and analytics data and tell you when it's done. Uninstall the game at that point: if you keep playing, it sends your profile and points again. If you've already uninstalled or changed your name, tell us what you remember, but we may not be able to find your data. Uninstalling the game deletes everything stored on your device, but not what Talo holds.
The privacy policy explains what the game collects and what your rights are.
